Alscot Friendly Cricket Match

Cricket was the winner when an Alscot team, captained by Andrew Holman-West, and made up of Alscot associates, played a friendly match against Warwick Cricket Club, the new and very welcome guests at Alscot Park cricket pavilion.

The Warwick team, captained by Mike Hope, batted first & scored 168 in their overs. Batsman were encouraged to "retire" after scoring some 25-30 runs.

The Alscot team responded well & contributions from Rupert, Callum, Craig, Luke, Tom & others brought the score to about 20 runs short of the required target.

There was a popular bottle tombola, bar, superbly managed by Sean Tiernan, barbecue by Stuart Eborall at Warwickshire Wild Game, cakes all home baked & even ice cream for both the little & big kids! Everyone had a splendid time. Big thank you to The Bell, Alderminster who were able to assist in supplying an extra barrel of Purity Brewing Co at the last minute, watching cricket is clearly a thirsty game!

The Alscot team, made up of people with mixed abilities and some never having played a game since school days, finished respectfully. The final score was 151/168 to Warwick, and a lovely evening was had by all!

Finally, huge thanks to all the people connected to Alscot and Warwick Cricket Club (big high fives to hosts Emma and Andrew Holman-West, the Alscot Estate Team and Claire & Paul) those who came along to support and those who worked so very hard to make the event such a success. These things only go smoothly with organisation, help and support and thanks to this successful collaboration, a massive £1,500 was raised at the event!
